I found out about these guys a few months ago and was really impressed with what i heard. Schizofonics are Shortie & M, two Dublin-based DJs/Producers bound together by the love of all things BASS!!!
DJing together for over 10 years, the lads put their heads together in 2008 and began to make some tunes. It was the success of their first remix, Mustard Pimp’s ‘Zombie’s Revenge’ that inspired them to keep the remixes coming and also to try their hand at some original production. (Schizofonics’ remix is featured on the official release of Zombie’s Revenge)
Their production style is as diverse as their DJ sets, taking inspiration from Electropop to Global Bass and everything in between. This eclectic sound is most evident on ‘Break Free’ their first original production. Half chord based vocal track and half murky bassline banger it’s a tune that’s as at home in the club as it is on your iPod.

So after this weekend I decided that I have a new favorite underground DJ. He goes by the name of Beats. I saw him this weekend over at Debonair in Wicker Park. I went there to see DJ Mehdi because I am overly obsessed with Ed Banger Records and ended up hanging downstairs most of the night listening to Beats and some other dj's ( who i have ended up forgetting names of ). Awesome Awesome set he put on. I have seen from his blog that he mostly does house parties and such so i was actually kind of excited to see him live for the first time. Man I really wish they were stopping in Chicago....but were not that lucky this time around. If you are anywhere near this tour when they come around I would highly advise checking it out. Boys Noize and Boys Noize records are right up there with Justice and Ed Banger in my opinion. Pedro Winter (head of ed banger) was once quoted as saying that "Boys Noize records is the German Ed Banger." That is pretty high praise if you ask me.

So I am really excited to have stumbled upon this guy last night. His name is Nixon and it looks like he's from Australia. There's not too much info on him yet, but let me tell you the guy is sick!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST - - - THIS GUY WILL BE HUGE!!! He's got a couple of nasty tracks on his myspace page that are an absolutely must hear. His page describes his style as electronica/experimental. I would throw in a little trance/techno as well. He is extremely tight and im really diggin his track named 4SS. Very excited to see Datarock coming back to Chicago. They will be playing at the Vic Theater on June 17th. They are the opening for the killer act that is Ladytron. It's gonna be an insane show!!! Ladytron rocks and I will post some of there music later on.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Datarock, well you should be! They are a Norwegian band that consists of a trio of friends, Fredrik Saroea, Ketil Mosnes and Kevin O'Brien. They describe there sounds as a "mixture of musical sounds they like!" I describe it as some really crazy electro/rock!! I would highly recommend checking them out next month. Here is a little taste of what you can expect.
